Pattern Description
The Ottoman Campaign Procession scene symbolizes the disciplined and magnificent military order of the Ottoman Empire. In the foreground are sipahis advancing on horseback, standard bearers and turbaned state officials. The red sky and vegetal motifs in the background strengthen the rhythm of movement, while the blue ground gives the scene depth and dynamism.
This composition created by the artist’s brushstrokes tells not only of preparation for war but also of the order, unity and strength of the Ottoman army. The miniature-style figures realistically reflect the clothing and banner motifs of the period. In this respect, the piece carries traces of palace miniatures in the style of Matrakci Nasuh.
Every detail tells a historical story through color, line and symbol. When displayed on a wall, it adds both cultural and artistic depth to the space.
